Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, chaired a ministerial meeting today to follow-up the industrial renaissance development in Suez governorate. The meeting was attended by Ministers of Petroleum, Electricity, Investment, Irrigation and Transport, as well as Governor of Suez, the Chairman of Water and Waste Water Company, and Head of the Economic Zone Authority in Suez.
The Governor of Suez, General Seif Al-Din Galal, reviewed a report on the industrial renaissance therein, which is considered as the first of its kind, due to the existence of 9 industrial zones, encompassing 32 factories and 32 others under construction, with total investment EGP 100 billion. These zones provide 50,000 direct job opportunities and same indirect ones. The existing industries in these zones include cement, petrochemicals, ceramic, and glass.
General Seif Al-Din presented the challenges facing the industrial renaissance achievement in Suez, including the different affiliation of these factories. Prime Minister Dr. Nazif underlined the importance of preparing a feasibility study regarding the establishment of a unified authority to manage the industrial zones regardless of their nature, while considering the future expansion therein.
The Prime Minister also instructed the New Urban Communities Authority to undertake a feasibility study regarding the establishment of a residential city, near the industrial zones to fulfill and meet their various needs, along with setting a plan to fulfill requirements of these zones including drinking water through the implementation of desalination projects. Moreover, Prime Minister Dr. Nazif requested the Waste Water Authority to study best means of dealing with the industrial and waste water aiming to protect the environment.
