Prime Minister, Dr.
Ahmed Nazif, chaired the 22nd meeting of the Council of Governors
held in Tanta City, in attendance of Ministers of
Environment, Investment, Housing, Local Development, Family and Population, and
Education.
Dr. Nazif referred to
the previous meetings held in 13 governorates to date where half governorates
are covered. The coming meeting will be held in Damietta governorate.
Dr. Nazif expressed his
thanks to Al-Gharbyia Governor, agencies and people who welcomed him, in
addition to the meeting's good preparation. He stated that Al-Gharbyia
governorate is focusing on the development opportunities therein including
improvement and development of the activities, industries and provided services.
The Governor presented
a detailed presentation on various development aspects witnessed therein, and
focused on the industrial development, infrastructure and main services
(especially water, sanitation, health, education and roads) in Greater Mahala area
which witness continuous development.
Dr. Nazif started his
tour by delivering contracts to number of people participating in Mubarak's
Housing Programme in Al-Agezy area. He witnessed the inauguration of expansions
taken in the Sport Stadium.
Regarding investments
nationwide, the Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin reviewed a
presentation on investment directions in all governorates as well as various
indicators related. These directions included the existed investment during
January 1970 to June 2004 compared to July 2004 to May 2010.
The meeting reviewed a
report by Dr. Mohieldin on uses of lands available for investment in
governorates. The cleaning plans in governorates were tackled as well, where
the Minister of Environment Dr. Maged George presented a report on the plan
implementation development within the model prepared by the Ministry including
means to deal with solid wastes through an integrated system.
The Minister of Family
and Population, Mrs. Mushira Khatab, presented the periodical report on the
population indicators including the active statistics of governorates in
population field during 2009 compared to 2008.
