Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, held the 83^rd meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and discussed internal and external affairs. Dr. Nazif congratulated the Egyptian National Football Team as well as the Egyptians for the great achievement namely winning the Africa Cup.

 

The meeting reviewed a report on inspecting efforts taken for treating the floods impact on some Upper Egypt governorates and Sinai. The political leadership and government are keen on overcoming the negative impact of floods including provision of financial compensations, aids, buildings restoration and other services.

 

They discussed a report on President Mubarak's visit to Sohag governorate where he inaugurated Upper Egypt-Red Sea road. The Minister of Petroleum, Eng. Sameh Fahmy, presented a report following-up on the gas cylinder crisis.

 

Regarding the external relations, the meeting tackled outcomes of visits paid by Vice-President of Sudan, President of Czech and Prime Minister of Hungary to Egypt. 

 

Index of the economic performance over the second quarter and the first half of the fiscal year 2009/2010 were discussed.

 

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research presented the national strategy on development of the science and technology system.
