Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, chaired the 82nd meeting
of the Cabinet of Ministers and reviewed internal and external issues.
On behalf of the Cabinet, Dr. Nazif congratulated the
Minister of Interior Affairs, General Habib El-Adly, soldiers and policemen on
the Policy Day. The Cabinet extended thanks and appreciation to the police for
their continuous efforts in achieving security and stability in Egypt.
The meeting reviewed a follow-up report on floods witnessed
in some regions in Egypt.
The report determined number of dead and wounded as well as damages taken in
the old building in Sharm El-Sheikh airport. Immediate aids will be provided
for families of dead people amounting to EGP 5000 as well as EGP 1000 for each
wounded. The report called for speeding implementation of the infrastructure
plan in North Sinai particularly greater
projects, something which would positively affect people therein. It is worthy
noting that Dr. Nazif has visited South Sinai this
week to inspect the floods aftermath.
Regarding the Africa Cup of Nations, the Egyptian national
team has reached the semi-final and will face-off against Algeria tomorrow.
The meeting stressed that media and people in both countries shall deal with
this event in a balanced manner.
Concerning swine flu situation, the meeting reported that
number of dead in Egypt
amounts to 249 out of 15692 cases.
The meeting reviewed the external issues which included
reports on outcomes of Uganda's
Prime Minister to Egypt
where various cooperation fields discussed, as well as the Georgian Prime
Minister visit to Egypt.
The population situation was covered in the meeting as the
Minister of Family presented a report on the ministry's work monitoring the
population situation.
